Writing a lookbook introduction for Zaevar

A lookbook introduction tells a visitor what the collection stands for before they see a single garment. This guide walks through writing one for a new label, using a worked example for a Zaevar capsule.

01

Decide the single idea of the season

Start with one sentence that names the idea behind the collection, not a list of adjectives. For a hypothetical Zaevar capsule, it might be: six pieces for the days that begin early and end late. That sentence gives you a test for every later choice, from fabric to photography. If a piece does not serve the idea, leave it out. Write the sentence first, then say it aloud to someone unfamiliar with the project. If they can repeat the idea back in their own words, the introduction has a solid foundation to build on.

Ground the mood in tangible detail

Mood words alone read as decoration, so attach each one to something a reader can picture or touch. In the Zaevar example, quiet might become a wool coat with a hidden placket, and structure might become a shirt collar that holds its shape without starch. Name two materials, one silhouette choice and one color story. Keep claims modest: describe what the garment is made of and how it is cut, and avoid promises about durability or origin unless the maker can document them. Two or three concrete details do more work than a paragraph of atmosphere.

Guide the reader into the pages

Close the introduction by telling the reader how to move through the lookbook. You might group looks by time of day, by layering order or by a simple sequence from first piece to last. In the Zaevar example, the closing lines could say that the pages follow one day, from early morning coat to evening dress, with fabric notes beside each look. Add a clear next step, such as viewing sizing notes or joining a release list. Keep the full introduction under about one hundred and fifty words, so the images remain the focus.
